Oh, what do you do in the winter time, when all the world is snowy? And boy, was January a month full of snow and snow days! January was also the month that I banned electronics from our home. AND January was also the month that I got fed up with the boys' lack of cleaning their pig sty of a room and took away all of their toys. EVERY toy!! You can't have a messy room if you don't have any toys, at least that was my rationale. The timing couldn't have been worse! The kids were home at least one day each week and were looking for ways to appease their boredom which was extremely high due to lack of toys and electronics. Well, when you have nothing to distract you from using it, one's imagination can be a pretty great thing. The kids spent a lot of time outdoors even though it was really cold. They always enjoy playing in the snow!
Noah's cute little red nose and cheeks!
The frozen pond at the side of our house was also a source of entertainment!
Trying out some ice skating moves!
A few spills followed by a bunch of laughing.
And what could be more fun than sumo wrestling? This kept the kids occupied for over an hour one morning.
The key is lots of padding!!
No electronics? No problem, I'll just make my own.
Noah spent a lot of time typing away on his homemade computer.
The kids also spent a ton of time reading, playing cards and board games, and playing soccer and football in the basement. We also started our family reading back up again and have thoroughly enjoyed the antics of Ramona in the books by Beverly Cleary. Puzzles, drawing, coloring - all good 'ole fun activities that kept the kids busy and entertained throughout the month. Electronics? Who needs 'em? We don't need no stinkin' electronics!
You are a brave, brave Momma. One day I will be as awesome as you!
