Jamaica - Day 6

Good Morning, goats!
After the long day in Ocho Rios the day before, it was nice to spend Friday just relaxing at the beach. It's something we do really well!
We just laid there, soaking up the sun, napping, reading, sipping our pina coladas, enjoying the peace and quiet...and then the family with 2 small children showed up. Actually we heard them before we saw them. To say the little boy was full of energy would be an understatement! After a few minutes we gathered up our stuff as discreetly as we could and headed to the other side of the beach. Once again we found peace and quiet.
Day 6 selfie in the warm Caribbean waters...it doesn't get better than this!
Because this side of the beach was so devoid of people the sand crabs were very active. I was fascinated by these little guys and, much to David's amusement, followed them around trying to get pictures.
Once again we had lunch at the open restaurant above the beach. Such a beautiful view as we ate our yummy food. After enjoying the jerk chicken at the Mystic Mountain restaurant, I ordered it again for lunch and it was even better! Love that stuff!!
I sure do love this guy!
Ahhh, Jamaica!
We packed up early because the last excursion on our vacation was that night - the Rose Hall plantation. As we drove there we tried to get a few shots of everyday life in Jamaica.
According to the guide the Jamaicans LOVE their KFC. The line was out the door!
We had decided to visit Rose Hall at night because it is supposedly one of the most haunted places in the world. David and I were ready to be creeped out!
The beautiful Great House! We loved the eerie red light!
We explored the home and its history on this fun candle-lit tour. Our guide filled us in on all the lurid details of the White Witch and her many lovers as well as her "black magic" powers that helped her murder several husbands.
Throughout the tour actors would wander in and out, representing different people who had lived there in the past. Some scary moments did occur with thumps and bumps as well as people jumping out at us or startling us by appearing out of nowhere. But the one who freaked me out the most was a slave woman who wandered around whistling. Apparently Annee Palmer, the mistress of the plantation who was also the famous White Witch, did not want her slaves sampling her food so she commanded them to whistle as they were serving her her meals. Definitely high on the creep-me-out scale.
Although we didn't spot any real ghosts, David did yell out when chains started rattling at the grave site. I don't blame him, it was pretty scary even when we knew that something would happen out there. Others of our group screamed and ran off! It was a really fun evening and, once again, we had a really great guide!
By the time we got back to the resort we were so worn out but quickly changed and headed over to our favorite Asian restaurant, Lotus. David didn't feel like wearing his dress shoes so he just kept his tennis shoes on. He told me it would be fine because no one ever looks at a man's shoes. I still made fun of him.
Keeping it classy!
As soon as we walked to our table and sat down, David told me that the 3 women at the table we had just passed by all looked at his shoes and started laughing. But we all have our quirks. I carry chapstick with me wherever I go so David took a picture of that little strange habit of mine.

Once again the sushi did not disappoint but this time I was most in love with the dessert - vanilla ice cream with bananas and coconut milk. Oh, my goodness, pure heaven!
