A little mystery and crime was on the agenda for this year's Blue and Gold Banquet. Of course every Blue and Gold begins with some preparation at home and Xander was thrilled to design his very own CSI themed cake!
Dad joined in the frosting fun as well!
It started as just a fingerprint but when the corner of the cake fell off during the frosting, Xander got creative. Every good crime scene has a little blood, right?
Getting down to business...scout business, that is.
The scouts were the waiters for the evening and did a great job serving up a tasty "breakfast for dinner" to all the families.
Xander made sure our table had plenty of the good stuff - bacon and sausage!
So bummed this picture is blurry; my camera has been acting up lately. Despite my temperamental camera, we had such a great time hangin' with our great friends the Wines.
They're always good for a bunch of laughs!
Don't we look like we're having fun?
As part of the entertainment for the evening each of the older scouts told a joke. This was Xander's: "The other day at school we had this substitute teacher. Very tough. Sort of like Darth Vader. Had the heavy breathing, the deep voice. During roll call she said, 'Are you chewing gum, young man?' And I said, 'No, I'm Xander Pierce!' Xander got some great applause and laughter with that one. Curious as to where he got the joke, I was surprised to find out when I questioned him about it that he had written it himself. That Xander!
Savannah goofing around with her friends. What else is there to do for older sisters at a cub scout meeting?
