Back in early March the kids came in one afternoon after playing in the woods, excitedly telling us all about "the river". As they have gotten older their adventures have taken them further into the woods and this particular day they had actually hiked all the way down our back hill and discovered a path that led right to the Winters Run River. Although it was pretty cold all the kids decided to take a dip in the water, an event that kicked off this lovely new location in their lives. Throughout March and April the kids would come home each evening for dinner spouting tales of their adventures at the river; most of those stories would include how Noah "accidentally" fell in the river. While the cousins were visiting for Noah's baptism, my kids wanted to take them to their special spot so David and I decided that it was time for us to check it out as well. As we all headed out the back door we of course started off with a little adventure - we found a dead mouse on the back patio! Gross!
It's quite a hike down!
Noah is so sweet with Ciara and is always on hand to help her out.
We finally made it - it's a gorgeous little spot. I don't blame the kids at all for wanting to spend every afternoon here.
King of the Rock!
And there they go, getting right in the water. And it's only April! I didn't even put my feet in because I knew the water was frigid. How do kids stand it?
Such cute kids, hanging out on what has become known as the Ariel rock.
No need to join the pool this summer...we have our own water spot!
Ciara was super bummed that she had to stay on shore with the adults...but she did get her little piggies wet.
Hangin' with my love.
After about half an hour the kids realized that they were freezing and there were a few tears shed as their bodies started to go numb.
Kellan got stuck on the opposite shore and was a little nervous to brave the icy waters to come back to our side. Thank goodness for his cousin Noah who made his way, slowly but surely, over to rescue him.
Bloody nose and all!
Best buds!
It was a fun afternoon, albeit a bit cold. It will be the perfect spot to hang out at this summer!
