After eight months of planning, preparation, meetings, phone conferences, and firesides, the Stake Youth Trek finally took place! David was the man in charge of this wonderful youth conference and, along with the other members of the Stake YM and YW presidencies, provided a wonderful experience for the youth in our stake. David came home from this conference spiritually uplifted, relating to us many stories from the trail that had touched his heart.
The man in charge getting things started on Thursday morning!
Those handcarts weighed approximately 1000 pounds - this was definitely not a walk in the park.
David said the youth in our stake are fantastic! They didn't complain, they worked hard, and they helped each other along the trail.
For several hours on Friday the young men went off to join the "Mormon Battalion".
David had done a lot of practicing with the Dutch oven in the months preceding Trek so that they would have some tasty meals to enjoy at the end of each day.
Some night time entertainment of a live band
and square dancing!
We missed him while he was gone those three days but I know what a truly amazing experience this was for him and I'm so grateful he was able to have the opportunity to be a part of Trek.
