Summer 2014 = World Cup time!! Exciting games, amazing goals, penalty kicks, lots of flopping, and even some biting. Neymar, Robben, James, Ronaldo, Messi, all so fun to watch. Oh, but wait! You didn't list your favorite player, Tracie. What about David Villa? How could you not list him? He scored Spain's two goals in the friendly in DC right before Spain headed down to World Cup. Why did he not make your list? Great question. He didn't play, that's why. Why did he not play is the most obvious next question but to that I have absolutely zero idea as to the answer. Hmmm, maybe his absence had something to do with why Spain lost so badly and went out in the Very First Round!! Spain changed their entire style of play but maybe they should have rethought that whole strategy. No, I'm not bitter at all. Thank goodness the team that I was truly rooting for was the good 'ole USA and what a great job they did!
To kick off their first game, we headed over to the house of our good friends, the Wardles, and along with some other close friends of ours, the DeFords, we enjoyed good food and some good soccer. (I don't know about those DeFords...they wear Germany jerseys even when Germany isn't playing in the game we're watching....or even playing that day!)
Sportin' the right gear...go USA!!!
While the soccer was being watched inside, there was soccer being played outside...with occasional lacrosse thrown in for good measure.
And no, I have no idea why Noah is only wearing one sock!
Torres against my cute girl.
Maybe a little flopping going on in the background???
Such a fun evening and such a great World Cup! Can't wait for the women in 2 years!!
I'm not a big sports fan, but nights like that sound like so much fun I'm tempted to become one!
