One afternoon in late July we met up with my friend, Kelli and her two kids, plus two other homeschooling moms and their kids, for a fun afternoon at the Marshy Point Nature Center. Unfortunately the other kids were all around Noah's age or younger so Savannah and Xander were friendless but we still had a nice time and the kids spent a lot of time exploring the center on their own.
There were so many wonderful exhibits to see!
A big 'ole Maryland crab!
I loved that there were both live animals...
as well as not so alive that the kids could study, examine, and touch if they so desired.
My little scientist!
We spent just under an hour in the center and then headed outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. There were little hiking trails that took us all around the area, including by the bay.
We came across a little pond where there were tons of frogs! Savannah has always been such a great little frog catcher so she tried to catch some to show the younger kids. The other families had allowed their kids to come hiking in flip flops so unfortunately for them they couldn't get through all the mud to get down to the pond to see all the frogs.
Every time Savannah would get close to a frog, however, Noah would run up insisting that he could catch it, thus scaring away each and every frog. That's our little Noah! We finally gave up.
We did find plenty of other fun specimens...lots of bugs and pretty flowers and even a snakeskin!
What a great way to spend a summer afternoon!
