Seminary Olympics Week 2

Week 2 of our Seminary Olympics started with the event of putting Book of Mormon events in order. I didn't realize this event was going to be so hard! The kids really struggled with this one.
Poor Jack was all alone trying to figure things out.
Since our Olympics fell on Valentine's Day, I decided our second event would have something to do with LOVE. Kids from each team would line up close to the basket and, as soon as they heard the word LOVE in the scripture that was read, they would shoot the ball. The one who got a basket first was the winner of the round. We were able to whittle it down to a final round and here were the ultimate winners!
For breakfast Elinor Wine brought the kids heart shaped chicken biscuits from Chick-fil-A which are absolutely AMAZING! She stayed and hung out with us to enjoy!

Seminary Olympics - Week 1

In honor of the Olympics this year I decided that every Friday we would have our own Seminary Olympics! I divided the kids into "countries" and they designed their country's flag. The first Friday in February we started off with a parade, which some of the kids really got into, and then did several events.
Jack, Abi, and missing Sydney. I can'tremember what they named themselves.
Savannah, Julia, and Everett - the Jevannahites from the land of Moron.
Molly, Lydia, and missing Emily - the Femaleites from the land of Bountiful.
Spencer, Xander, and Preston - the Destroyerites from the land of Nephi.
Sydney, Claire, and Harrison - the Almighties.
Grace, Emma, Skyler, and missing Jessica - from the land of Zarahemla.
First event of the morning - the Golden Plates discus throw!
Second event - without using your scriptures, put the cups with names of the books in the Book of Mormon in order.
Skyler kept saying how easy this event was until I realized he hadn't been listening to the "do not use your scriptures" part. There he was, reading them in order from his open Book of Mormom, ha ha. Needless to say, this team received a penalty!
Of course Jack had to get a little creative with the cups!
The last event of the day I don't have any pictures of but the kids all sat against the back wall with their scriptures. I would read out a hint of one of the DM verses. Whoever found the actual verse in their scriptures had to run up to me, show me where it was found, and them race to grab the prize on the other side of the room. It got quite competitive, ha ha, and was a ton of fun.
Grace had brought in our Olympic torch at the start of class and decided to pose for some pictures.
It was definitely a fun opening day!
