December Moments 2019

If you have food, Cleo is your best friend.
That face!
They all love to cuddle with her.
Amazing winter sky!
Best friends!
We decided to implement a new tradition - second Thanksgiving! We just can't get enough of this tasty food!
Star Wars continues to be a favorite around here with Xander always as the emperor.
The boys love Star Wars so much that Noah and his best friend Parker even started a Star Wars club at school. There were about 7-8 kids that joined and each week they would watch one of the movies or discuss all things Star Wars. For their Christmas party they made light sabers. So fun!!
And of course we don't mind seeing it in the theater multiple times.
Silly times subbing...Dylan is in one of Savannah's classes so he took this selfie and told her to send it to me.
And then there's one of my favorites, Ryan, who somehow found this position comfortable. These kids!!
The ward Christmas party is always a lot of fun, celebrating our Savior's birth, eating good food, visiting with our ward family, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Noah and his friend Tristan were Santa's helpers this year.

December is always such a good month!

Basketball - Kenwood and Elkton

Our first official game of the season was against Kenwood. Although Xander didn't get much playing time, when he was in he worked hard. He seems to get along with his teammates and I'm really enjoying watching our guys play. We've got a great team!
I even ran into one of my favorite students, Dylan. We didn't have the best start - he was the biggest pain in the neck in an English class I subbed for. I had to have daily Dr Peppers after having him in class for a week. One day I was so irritated with him but trying to keep my cool and he asked me if I had a headache. I told him that yes, I had a headache - it was him, ha ha! As he got older he got better and I always tell him he has a thousand watt smile.
Unfortunately we fell a little short at Kenwood and lost 54-50. What a heartbreaker!
Next we faced Elkton up at their home court. Going in we knew it would be tough because their Varsity team is undeated so we figured the JV would follow suit. The game was really exciting and Xander got in for a bit, doing a great job grabbing some rebounds. Each game we're definitely seeing improvement.
I really like his coach, Coach Beach. He stays pretty calm with the boys and is very upbeat and positive.
This time we came away with the win, 54-36. We stayed for the first quarter of the Varsity game and the place was hopping! It's not a very big gym and it was packed. I wished we could have stayed because it was so exciting but Xander had to get home. We found out later that our guys had lost. Boo!

Seminary in December

Seminary continues to be one of the greatest blessings in my life. Oh, how I love spending my mornings with these amazing youth, including two of my own. Games always help the learning process...
especially the ones the get them up and moving.
Though early morning moving is not always a favorite with some, ha ha!
Breakfast keeps us smiling!
Working on a project - our very own clay lamps.
I loved seeing what the kids came up with. Now to let them dry...
Learning about the Last Supper while enjoying our own special meal.
Our get together for December was a game night. Although it wasn't that well attended, those of us who were there had a ball! Pizza,
guzzling soda and stuffing our faces with candy and treats,
lots of goofiness and laughter,
card games,
and fun!
I always have a great time with these students of mine!
