Soccer Week 5

Soccer week 5 started with our Pink Game against Patterson Mill, one of the toughest teams we play all season. Some fun pictures before the game!
Warm ups, picture courtesy of Savannah's friend Harrison.
Hangin' with some other non-starters.
When Savannah got into the game, she played really well, as did our whole team. It was an intense first half with plenty of shots but no goals scored!

Receiving some instruction during halftime.
More tough play during the second half.
What a game! It remained 0-0 until about 2 minutes left in the game. We had a free kick on their side of the field; our player got off a great kick and Ryan got her head on it which gave it just enough of a direction change to get over their goalie's hands. The strange thing was the person in charge of the clock stopped the clock after we scored and didn't start it up again until Patterson Mill kicked it off, giving them almost a full extra minute to try a comeback. They did in fact get off a final shot right at the buzzer and it went in! Thank goodness the ref called it off, saying it was shot after the buzzer, and we came away with the win.
Next up, a makeup game against North East at some crappy field in their area.  Our girls dominated but the shots would just NOT go in!
Savannah got a lot of playing time since we were missing a few players and she played really well but, like the rest of her teammates, she just couldn't score.

I hate games like this one where our team dominates the entire game, has shots that go just wide or hit the goal posts, and the other team gets one lucky shot that goes in and they win the game. We left with a 1-0 loss.

My X Turns 14!

Every year I remark how I can't believe that one of my kids is another year older but every year I'm amazed. Time is just flying by! It's hard to believe that my huge, 6'1, size 13 shoe son is turning 14! And dang this blurry picture but I have to include it because it's the traditional balloon shot!
Dad likes to get donuts for birthdays which the kids love!
Xander's birthday fell on a Monday so there was school and Savannah had an evening soccer game so we didn't get to opening presents until a little later in the evening but Xander is a very patient, easy-going kid.

He's also a huge Broncos fan so we had to outfit him with a few new things.
And of course a few new Lego sets. I think we have enough to open our own Lego store at this point.
Awww, my cute kids...and dog.

Finishing Up September

Savannah was supposed to have two games the last week of September but ended up with just one due to weather. But what a game it was! They played against C. Milton Wright, one of the powerhouse teams in their division, and both teams brought their A game!
A few pictures I took of my favorite soccer player...
and a few of my favorites from the other photographers.
One of our forwards, Katie, got hurt so Savannah got a lot of playing time and she really performed well. After two halves of intense play, the score was still 0-0, taking us into overtime. Savannah was there to get it started.
Overtime was more of the same hard, strong play by both teams. C. Milton had a final, last second amazing shot but our Emma was there to make the save. Final score 0-0!
On the last Saturday in September we had a fun ward BBQ up at Susquehanna State Park.
We had fun showing off Cleo; she's such a cute little puppy!
Lots of good food!
The many faces of Noah...
We love spending time with our ward family.
David and his desserts. Unfortunately Xander and I didn't get to sample any...
because we had to leave the party early to get to his football game.
We had a great start to the game, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter.
But after that we really struggled and the boys looked a bit flat.

The other team was just super good and we ended up with a loss, 19-6.
