An Evening Stroll

For the past few months I had heard many great things about the new trails put in a wooded area near our home. Apparently an arts organization had constructed a bunch of interactive spots for kids to explore while walking along the trail. So, one gorgeous evening in early June, David, the boys and I, along with Cleo, took an evening stroll together. We had a wonderful time!
We even had some deer sightings!
These boys of mine!
Was able to get closer to this one.

I truly enjoy these small, ordinary pockets of time that I get to spend with my people.

World War II Air Show

My friend Alex knows about Noah's love of history so he suggested I take him to the Mid Atlantic Air Museum's World War II air show up in Pennsylvania. I had no idea this was even a thing! We spent the day looking at planes, weapons, and tanks as well as meeting a few veterans and talking to many, many awesome living history reenactors. It was pretty amazing!
This man was a veteran of the Korean War and we met him while standing in line to board one of the planes. He told us he had flown one of these exact planes in the war.
Noah said it was pretty tight quarters moving around in the plane!
My favorite named plane of the day!
Ran into FDR!

And Winston Churchill was driving around as well!

Spotted an enemy plane...
Noah was too nervous to ask this soldier to pose for a picture with him so I did and Noah ended up with this cool picture and even got to hold his sword.
After hearing a rousing victory speech by General Eisenhower...
we headed into the area that had a ton of tents and exhibits set up.
Learning how to be a sniper.
Words to live by, ha ha!
I thoroughly enjoyed talking to these two men. They had actually spent a lot of time hanging with the actual veterans of the 101st in their younger years so had a ton of knowledge about those great men.
The video of us working this machine is so much better!
Hangin' with a super nice German.
We ran into Dr. Jones...both of them!
We even got to spend a little time with Alex!

What a treasured memory this day was for both me and Noah! He has already asked multiple times if we can go again next year.
