Seminary Kickoff!

My classroom was ready...
some kids had even saved seats...
a few little sugary breakfast items to keep them awake...
our new board just waiting for students' thought hearts...
and I'm all ready to go!! Time to return to seminary!!
We made it through the first week of seminary with flying colors!  I lost one student from last year, Felix, but gained five new freshmen, one girl and four boys, including my Xander, As we worked through the first of year lessons, we were able to get back into the groove and teach our newbies the "seminary way".
On our first day Lydia demonstrated how difficult it is to carry our burdens by ourselves;
Harrison jumped in to show how much lighter our burdens become when we yoke ourselves to the Savior.
And we grabbed some first day pictures. My fun group of kids...
and my own!
The rest of the week I got them working in groups (in the hall since our classroom was like a swamp) to prepare to teach the class about Premortal, Mortal, and Postmortal life.
And Friday we had our first breakfast! Yay!!
The kids always do such a great job when they're teaching the lesson.
Plus I love getting new artwork for the classroom.
This year I'm having the students write thoughts, impressions, truths learned, etc. on hearts and the plan is to fill up the wall with the things that touch our hearts each week.

Sports - Week 2

Awww, I just love Savannah's teammates!
Scrimmage - Edgewood vs Eastern Technical. Our stadium still doesn't have its turf laid yet so we played on the practice field which is definitely sub-par condition wise. Blah!  Unfortunately this wasn't Savannah's strongest game or her team's. It ended up in a tie, 2-2.
Xander's football game, Edgewood vs Perry Hall. My guy is #82!
Xander got in for about 6 plays which was exciting for us but he would have preferred more playing time, of course. I thought he did a great job when he was in.  Ready to take on the blocker...
putting up a good fight...
and getting past!
Congratulating a teammate on a good play.
A fight broke out in the crowd in the Perry Hall student section and there was a bad injury to one of our guys which delayed the game for awhile as we waited for the ambulance but, other than those exciting things, our guys played solid and came away with the win!
Noah's team played Middle River on Saturday and it was a brutal game.
The Middle River team was just reinstated to the league after being suspended for a couple years and let's just say they should never have been let back in. First of all, they were so much better than us that they shouldn't even be in our division. Second, after going up by about 6 or 7 touchdowns in the first half, did they decide to let up? No, they continued to pound our guys into the ground. After our quarterback was picked up, slammed to the ground, and suffered a head and neck injury so severe that an ambulance was called, the game was called. I felt so bad for our little team.
