Xander Basketball - Perry Hall

Xander decided to try out for the basketball team and we were super excited when he made it! We knew that it would be a learning process but he has height on his side as well as the fact that he's a hard worker and very coachable. His team opened the season with a scrimmage against Perry Hall so David and I headed down there to watch. Clearly his teammates had more basketball experience than he has had; Xander never played travel or competitive basketball. However, towards the end of the game he did get some playing time.

I know he was disappointed in his performance but I saw his coach talking to him at the end of the game, encouraging him to keep his head up. We gave him the same advice and told him that as he worked hard at every practice and got more practice under his belt, all he could do was improve.
