Within the first few weeks of the basketball season we just knew this wasn't going to be a good season. Not much time had gone by before Noah was putting up a fight about going to practices and games, and frankly, I don't blame him. Although it was a rec league, Noah hardly ever played; he might get about 4 minutes a half. His team was horrible and a few of the other players, thinking they were pro basketball players, would never pass the ball to Noah or frankly, to any teammate. They would dribble up the court and take a shot time after time after time. One time when Noah actually had the ball and was preparing to take a shot, one of his teammates told him he couldn't shoot so Noah didn't. Noah was in tears after that game. It was just a disaster - they didn't win a game the entire season! But I'm proud to say that despite all the non-fun aspects of the season, Noah continued to go out there and work hard.
Xander, on the other hand, always loves playing and in almost every game this season played the entire game. He lucked out in the size department so his coach needed him in there. But Xander also shared Noah's pain in having a disaster of a team. There were several boys on his team that were complete head cases and made it a miserable experience for all the other boys on the team. His team also seemed to have a lot of boys who had no idea how to play basketball. Unfortunately there were 4 teams in the league that were completely stacked and would whomp on the other teams and then there were 6 teams that struggled and Xander was on one of those teams.
They did win a few and Xander has definitely improved his own game, scoring a bunch of points, getting rebounds, and even having some blocked shots but, like Noah, did not enjoy his basketball season as much as in years past.
