The past two days had been absolutely gorgeous but our last day, the day we had set aside to visit Lake Erie, the weather decided to turn rotten and we ended up driving there in a complete downpour. Oh, well, Noah and I made the best of it! And, thank goodness, the rain did let up enough for us to walk around a little bit without getting drenched.
We made sure to stop by the Fairport Harbor Monument and Lighthouse, the harbor many Saints passed through on their way to Kirtland to join other members of the church. Many missionaries also passed through Fairport harbor on their way to preach the message of the restored gospel, including the first mission of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to the Eastern States and the Church's first mission to England.
This marker pays tribute to the more than 3,000 Saints who came through the harbor.
We walked down by the water but it was pretty cold and starting to rain so we didn't spend much time there. There were a whole lot of Amish people hanging around, some even going out on boats to do who knows what, which I thought was pretty interesting in this crazy weather.
One last shot before running back to the car. It was raining heavily at this point though from the picture you can't tell. I made Noah set the umbrella down for the picture and, like always, he was very accommodating.
After our rainy adventures of the morning, we headed off to Cuyahoga National Park where we'd be meeting up with the stake youth and grabbing Savannah and Xander. We decided to join them all for lunch and a hike to the Brandywine Falls. What a beautiful place!
It was so fun hangin' with one of my besties!
What a fun little getaway for me and my history bud! Noah and I had a great time touring the church history sites together.
