Football - Opening Weekend

After the first week's football game being cancelled, we are definitely ready to get this season started!
Friday night lights at Middletown!
Unfortunately this is where Xander remained the entire game.
Fortunately, we came away with the win!
Singing the fight song with the student section.
Saturday morning was the JV game. Xander started and had a great first series, chasing down guys and getting some tackles. And then it happened - he was chasing down the guy with the ball, he said later he felt a pop, he kept going and brought the guy down, and then couldn't get back up. It is definitely one of the worst feelings in the world to watch your son just lying there on the field. He was helped off and was examined by the trainer who had us come down. His suspicion was an ACL tear. That was a rough moment as Xander started crying, the possibility of a season ending injury staring him in the face.
Some of his teammates came over to comfort him and thank goodness were able to get him laughing a bit.
The trainer set him up with a nifty pair of crutches and he watched the rest of the game from the sideline.
And just like that, Xander's junior year of football came to an end.
