Finishing Up Basketball

Both boys ended up having a really exciting basketball season. Both of their teams ended up with only one loss during the regular season and headed into the playoffs looking strong. Noah's team handily won their first playoff game...
and so did Xander's.
By winning the first game, Noah's team played a second game later that same day. They went up against the only undefeated team in their age group but had no problem defeating them. Noah didn't get many baskets this year but one of them came during this game!
This win put them in the championship game the following Saturday.
Xander's team played their second playoff game the following Friday night. Unfortunately these were the only two pictures I ended up taking during the game.
Despite our guys playing their hearts out (Xander had 11 points, several rebounds, and a block), they ended up losing by 2 points. It was such a good game and really could have gone either way. Our boys were extremely bummed but what a fabulous season they all had!
Saturday evening - Time for Noah's championship game! I love how special they make it, announcing all the boys' name over the loudspeaker.
Some last minute instructions from the coach.
Another exciting game, with a lot of lead changes, good shots, and fighting back if the other team got a little ahead.
With under 2 minutes left in the game, Noah got fouled pretty hard, went right up to the free throw line and nailed his first free throw. I was so proud of him! He barely missed his second shot but the one he made was enough to keep us ahead.
With about 12 seconds to go the game was tied at 20, the other team shot, missed, one of our players got the rebound and drove down the court and laid it up and in for the win at the buzzer. What a way to end the championship game!!! Celebration time!
Time to hand out the trophies!
I really liked Noah's coach! He was always encouraging the boys and really taught them the fundamentals.
Second year in a row Noah's been on the championship team!
His biggest fans!
