Recovery!

Xander's recovery this time around was a little different. First of all, bed rest for 2 weeks, no PT, unlike last time when he started PT the same day as surgery. Second, David did all his caretaking the first time around, this time it was me. The first night David slept on the couch next to Xander in the family room, same set up as two years ago. However, when I came downstairs the next morning Xander was laying on the couch with his arms crossed, a pissed off look on his face, the cause of that look snoring away next to him. So all that day we worked on me being able to lift him up from the couch and get him his crutches. We finally worked out a system and for the next two and a half weeks I slept downstairs next to him, giving him meds during the night, lifting his leg up or down as needed, and taking care of anything else that came up during the night. During the day I was by his side, keeping him company, watching movies with him, watching him play video games.getting himm meals and snacks, helping him get up and down off the couch as needed. I know that it was a rough time for Xander but it was actually a treasured time for me, especially knowing that he would be leaving in a few months.
The Clarks were wonderful about visiting!
We definitely all enjoyed kicking back and keeping him company.
Every day Xander and I enjoyed a cold treat together.
He finally made it upstairs after one week...
but it was not easy!
Cleo loved to keep him company, especially around meal time.
More cousin visits.
His first check up two weeks after surgery.
Everything looks good!
Time to start PT!
Cleo, the emotional support dog!
Loved this special time with my Xander.
Brother time!
David is in charge of helping him with his daily PT.
