Playoffs - Game 2

Friday afternoon, two days after Halloween, I started feeling kinda crummy and by the time night hit, I was miserable. I had a severe sore throat that kept me awake most of the night and the only thing that could drag me out of bed Saturday morning was Xander's second playoff game against Fallston. The weather was supposed to be fairly decent but when we all got to their field, we were hit with massive wind and cold weather that none of us were prepared for. Good thing the game was exciting!
Fallston had beat us pretty handily during the regular season so I was trying not to get my hopes up. But, just like the week before, our boys came with their A game! The first half was back and forth with only one score a piece, our touchdown being on an interception by Eric.
Our littlest and cutest fan!
Xander was working hard in the middle!
Giving congrats to his teammate Chris who had just had an awesome sack!
Halftime stretches.
My favorite #14!
One last huddle before starting the second half.
Xander with the take down...
and chasing down the quarterback!
More tackles!
As the 4th quarter was nearing its end, the game was still tight and every little inch counted for us. On this key fourth down, we weren't sure if we had gotten the first down but Theo was convinced, ha ha! It was going to be close!
The measuring seemed to take forever but it went our way and our guys celebrated this most important first down.
We were trying so hard to get into that end zone but on this play Savion was called down at the one inch!
The saddest thing was the Fallston parents who were holding the down markers had flipped it to the 4th down sign when it was only the 3rd down...thank goodness the refs knew what was up. (Seriously, so lame.) On the next play, Thomas drove it in though we had to wait quite some time for the signal.
And there it is! We ended up missing the extra point so we were only up by 6 points but we were all pretty excited at this point, knowing there wasn't much time left on the clock.
A few great defensive plays, with Xander fighting against numbers 55 and 23...
and this one final sack by Big Chris...
and the victory was ours! Time to celebrate!!
These younger brothers are just so dang cute.
Heading to the championship game!!
After the game, I hurried home and crashed and David dropped Xander off at The Greene Turtle so he could celebrate with his teammates! So proud of these guys!!
