Day 3

Another early morning sitting on the deck, writing in my journal and taking in the view. One of the things we noticed on our first day was how hazy the sky was. Well, come to find out that sands from the Sahara winds are creating an overcast look on the island which is kind of a bummer for pictures. We can't even see the other islands real well! However, the weather is still beautiful and we were ready to get out for another beach day. We were able to get out by 8:45 this morning which truly helped; when we got to Maho, there was hardly any one there.
We set up a nice little beach area and everyone went snorkeling right away because as soon as we arrived a sea turtle popped his head up not too far from us.
Maho has fabulous snorkeling - sea turtles, sting rays, a beautiful HUGE red starfish, and lots of different fish, especially by the rocks. I even went out!
The one-legged chicken that Bryan named Kickstand. He chose to spend the day with us!
Lots of cool creatures...
and more shells for Savannah which she piled next to her beach chair. Later in the afternoon a lady came walking down the beach, paused by our chairs where Savannah had her stockpile, picked one up, and walked off with it! I couldn't believe it!!
These two apparently swore an oath that they would not eat dinner unless they caught a fish so they spent a lot of time planniing how to do it and then trying to catch some, especially towards the end of the day.
For the adults a lot of our day was spent sitting in our chairs along the shoreline, talking and having little white fish nipping at our fingers and toes. One bigger one actually swam right under my chair and knocked into my bum! I also fell in several holes along the shallow shore!
Kenna and Xander had been hanging out in the water and then Kenna decided to come sit on the beach by us. After about 5 minutes she suddenly yelled out, "Owwww!!" She had a tiny fish in her swim suit and it had bitten her!
We met little Penelope and her mom while playing in the water. Penelope was a super cute little three year old and Ash was so sweet and played with her because Ciara would have nothing to do with her, ha ha! But that's about the only person we met...usually it's just us hanging together and we're fine with that!

Ciara and Xander spent a couple hours building a huge sandcastle city!
Enjoying the shade and time with Kickstand!
The finished product!
Well, Noah and Kellan didn't catch their fish but that was okay because we decided to head home around 5:00. We were all starving and ready for some dinner!
Our driving conversations have been hilarious and are quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of the trip! There's politics, humor, singing, and lots of laughing. This evening as we passed by Peter Bay, Bryan mentioned that he knew how to speak "rich". Xander, in a strange Italian voice, said his father was in the oil business and then made some weird noise. We joked about it all the way home!
Hanging in our living room, waiting for dinner to be ready!
Tonight we had spagetti, green beans, and garlic bread and it tasted so delicious! We ate at the long table on the upper deck and enjoyed another aspect of this beautiful home!
While Kenna was sitting on the beach today, running her fingers through the sand, she pulled out a wedding ring!!! Definitely not a real one but she kept it on all day and said she was now engaged to the Maho the Ocean.
After dinner the kids retired to their room to watch Mako Mermaids and David and I sat on the deck for awhile. Bedtime is definitely early these days as we are all exhausted.
