Although the morning was a little cold, we decided to check out the lake. We packed up a lunch, grabbed a few towels, and were out the door. I honestly don't know what we were thinking packing that little. After driving around for a bit, we paid to park at one part of the lake, headed down to the water, and realized we were sorely lacking in fun and necessary lake items. No chairs, no floaties, no sunscreen - zilch! Well, at least we had food! The kids don't let stuff like that bother them. The boys immediately got in the water...
and Savannah and I laid out our towels and starting soaking up the sun.
To me the lake felt frigid but that never seems to bother the kids.
Dave asked the kids if they wanted to go kayaking which got them all excited, especially Noah.
I was a tad nervous to send them out, just the three of them, but they assured me they'd be fine. And they were!
While the kids kayaked all around the lake, I hung out with the ducks.
After awhile the kids headed back in but it was only to drop Noah off.
David went down to the pier to help him out.
We thought he was done but apparently he had a flower he wanted to give me. What a cutie!
But the other two didn't realize he wanted to get back on so they took off.
Thus leading to a meltdown on the pier when he realized he was stranded on land.
After a few tears, off he ran, down the shoreline to see if he could catch up with them.
David and I followed after him but at a much slower pace. We spent our leisurely walk enjoying the beautiful scenery and each other.
We found him down the path a bit, in the water, and we were finally able to get him back on the kayak.
The kids disappeared around a bend and were gone for about an hour. Their whole rental time was only supposed to be an hour and they had been out at least two by that point. I was started to get very scared about where they had gone but eventually they came back and we were able to enjoy some lunch.
Following lunch some of us relaxed while others went down to the shoreline to play with the ducks.
Noah found some trash and thought he could build a duck decoy that would lure the other ducks closer to him.
After zero luck with the ducks he and Xander decided to climb trees...
and hang out with their mom.
Yeah, I really wish we had grabbed the sunscreen!
After a fun day at the lake, we headed back to the cabin for a quick change of clothes and then went out to dinner. The sky here is amazing!
Noah joined me in the hot tub later that evening.
Friday we had a few hours in the morning to enjoy a little more relaxing time...
and the hot tub.
Before we headed home, we took a few last pictures.
Our time here was way too short and we all agreed that next time we go to Deep Creek Lake, it will be for a much longer time!
