Utah Stuff
We woke up Friday morning to snow so we got started a little later than we had planned. Our first stop of the day was the University of Utah! Noah thinks this is where he'd like to go so we wanted to show him the campus and what better place to start than the football stadium!
But it was definitely a quick visit because man, was it cold!!
David and I couldn't believe how much the campus has changed since we were there. So many new buildings, parking changes, and of course tracks runs right through it but some things are still the same, like President's Circle. I remember taking my graduation pictures right in front of this sign over twenty years ago! We also drove by the old pharmacy where I'd get lunch and Kinkos where David worked.
We also stopped by the University Bookstore to pick up some new Ute gear for Noah.
Noah sportin' his new hat! Looks good on him!
We can't come to Utah without eating at Cafe Rio.
Next we headed down to Orem to meet up with Savannah and Mason for the new Orem Temple Open House. It was so wonderful to see the two of them and spend some time in this beautiful new temple.
I guess everyone felt Friday was the day to visit the open house because there were about a gazillion people there and I was so sad at how loud everyone was walking through. I think we've lost the ability as a society to recognize and treat sacred places in the manner they deserve.
I would have loved to spend the next few hours driving the streets of Lehi looking for Xander, ha ha, but instead we headed down to Provo to do a little more temple hopping. Nothing wrong with showing our Ute love while down there.
We had never been to the Provo City Center Temple so we stopped there first. Love the brown stone - absolutely beautiful!
And then it was up to the Provo Temple where there's no longer a carrot top. A group of missionaries from the MTC had just come out of a session so it was fun to see them and think about my Xander. We had passed the MTC as we drove to the temple and I could not believe how huge it now is. So many new, big buildings!
While there David presented Savannah with a pretty silver bracelet that had an inscription about being a strong woman or something like that. Well, apparently he had found it on the ground. Too funny!
Of course Noah and Savannah couldn't resist starting a little snowball fight.
I was amazed that the trees still had their colorful leaves on them and with the snow added on top it was a gorgeous sight!
Despite the mean glares at Noah's Utah hat, we braved the BYU creamery for some tasty ice cream.
Loved the drive back to Dave's.
We spent the rest of the evening with Dave. We got some pizza for dinner...
and then of course played games.
Bob, Ada, Sandra, and her daughter Andrea and her husband stopped by for a bit so it was fun to catch up with all of them.
