Wrestling - Varsity
Every Sunday we receive the wrestling schedule for the week and then updates mid-week on any pertinant tournament information. I usually ignore the updates for Varsity tournaments because Noah is JV but for some reason I started reading through the list of wrestlers going to the Varsity tournament at Bloom Carroll on December 23rd and, lo and behold, there was Noah's name! This was two days before the tournament and we aleady had plans for Saturday. I quickly reached out to Noah who had no idea he was supposed to be going! We quickly made some schedule changes and off we went that Saturday morning to cheer Noah on in his first Varsity tournament.
His biggest fans!
Getting ready for his first match. I don't know how he was feeling but I had a pit in my stomach and was having a hard time controlling my nerves.
Noah wrestled so well and was able to get his first Varsity win with a pin in the second round!! I was SOOOO excited!!
Hand shakes with the second school. Noah and another wrestler were trading off matches so Noah wrestled the second and fourth school whereas Cabot wrestled the other three.
Noah psyched himself out before his second match, telling us the guy was huge and he wasn't going to win. Well, when he walked up to start the match Noah was actually slightly bigger than the other guy but allowed himself to get pinned in the first. Afterwards he admitted that he had convinced himself he couldn't beat this guy but that he would never do that again because after the match he realized that he could have given him more of a fight and he actually did have a chance. I think Noah still sees himself as that 147 pound freshman kid. Still, it wasn't a terrible first Varsity meet and we were super proud of him!
Our team took first place, going 5-0 for the day!!
To celebrate Noah's first Varsity win, we headed to Cane's for dinner.
