Indian Echo Caverns

Another summer day, another adventure with my boys! This time we met up with a highly patient friend of mine, Megan. The cave was about an hour and a half away, up in Pennsylvania. We were supposed to meet up there and go through the cave together. We left on time but had to turn around because David's car started making a very strange noise. Dealing with that pushed us back almost 40 minutes. Sweet Megan and her kids waited for us and as her son Seth said - they waited a VERY LONG time! I really should have just insisted that they go on through without us but it was nice to enjoy the experience with friends.
We had to wait for about 20 minutes after buying tickets for our group time but thank goodness they had some cool things to check out while we waited.
The boys loved that there were goats to pet.
And some cool birds wandering around.
Finally it was our turn to head on down to the entrance.

The cave was awesome! Not very big - it took about 45 minutes for the whole tour - but filled with cool things and some fun stories from our guide.
Our fun little group!
This part is known as the corn cob...pretty easy to see why.
Xander standing in front of the sleeping dragon! There were all kinds of formations like this throughout the cave, named for something they resembled.
A little cave pond.
Xander stayed by my side throughout the tour but somewhere along the way Noah got grumpy, don't know why, and I had to fight to find him as well as get a few pictures of him.
Love sharing another adventure with my boys!
Some fun time on the playground before eating lunch.
Years ago some young boys had found a box sitting on a ledge in the cave. Inside it was filled with some jewels as well as various ancient coins from all over the world. The "Mystery Box", as it came to be known, was displayed in the gift shop.
I found the story and the assortment of coins to be fascinating!
In the gift shop I found one of my favorite childhood candies - rock candy - and had to introduce it to the boys because, for some strange reason, they had never had it! I used to love that stuff as a kid!
