August 21st - the solar eclipse. We were worried about too much cloud coverage...
but we were actually able to get some decent viewing. And no worries, I just pointed my phone to the sky and took this picture; no looking straight at the eclipse for us! Melissa kept warning us about going blind.
We spent the afternoon at the pool, keeping cool and checking out the eclipse from time to time through Xander's cool eclipse glasses that his science teacher had given him. We were the only ones at the pool who had some so we kept lending them to other swimmers so they could witness this cool event.
A picture through the eclipse glasses.
One final look before it ended.
August 21st - David and I celebrated 22 years of marriage! Love him!
August 23rd - David turned 45. We snuck out for a birthday lunch...
and then opened presents later that evening. A homemade card from Savannah,
something from Noah, though I can't see what it was,
and $20 from Xander.
Such surprise over the golf balls he bought earlier in the day...
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 which Noah is not allowed to see, thus the sad face...
and another shock - new shoes that he ordered the week before. Birthdays just don't hold many surprises anymore but they're still fun!
