A long awaited evernt - Savannah's senior night for soccer. This was a tough night with lots of emotions, plus David was out of town for work and had to miss it. What a blessing, however, to have my parents able to join us in this special night for our Savannah.
As we started to walk down the track, listening to things about Savannah as a player, I started to get very emotional and had to tell myself to pull it together. Some of the things mentioned in her tribute: Savannah played soccer for 4 years, 2 on Varsity (thanks, Coach Rankin); she would be attending a 4 year university in the fall to study criminal justice; she wanted to be remembered for always working hard despite the challenges and for being a good teammate; she would remember getting stitches after being punched in the face by a goalie and overall the fun she had playing the sport she loved; her advice for younger players is to stay away from goalies; she also thanked all her coaches for pushing her to do her best, her teammates for being by her side through every win, loss, and run, and for her parents for their endless love and support.
Her biggest fans!
The girls had a great game! Usually North Harford gives us a run for our money but not tonight. We pretty much dominated the game!
Heading down the field...
with a shot on goal.
Unfortunately this one didn't go in.
The play that really cinched the game was when their goalie got out of position and one of our players took a shot on goal into a wide open net.
One of their defenders actually took her hand and punched the ball out of the goal in her attempt to keep us from scoring which is an automatice red card. For the rest of the game, which was about 10 minutes or so, they played down a player. We won our senior night game 3-1!
Although they were on opposite sides of the field tonight, we still adore Rachel and Taylor, Savannah's Northern Elite teammates.
Sav had lots of fans supporting her tonight!
Such goofs!
I loved every minute of this special night!
