Week 5 was a tough week for our athletes! Edgewood played Bel Air on Monday, still on the crappy practice field. None of us enjoy playing Bel Air - they're a bunch of arrogant, snobby girls and their parents are even worse. We played better, faster, and stronger than them but could not score which is obviously a huge problem in the game of soccer.
Savannah played tough!
Double trouble!
She had a couple shots on goal...
but none of our shots made it in. We ended up losing 2-0 which is so irritating, even more so because it's Bel Air. Ugh! The only player we like on Bel Air - Lauren from Savannah's Northern Elite days. Adore her and was truly happy for her because she scored her first goal of the season.
Sav and Lex...
and another of Savannah's fans, Melissa.
Wednesday we headed up to play a truly tough team, Harford Tech. The good thing about this game is catching up with these two ladies, Michelle and Diane.
We had such a great game and played super tough! We dominated most of the game but, once again, struggled to score.
At the end of regulation, it was tied 0-0. A few minutes into overtime it happened - in some miraculous way Savannah was in front of the goal, the goalie was out of place, and Savannah had a wide open net in front of her. A small tap on the ball and we win. Unfortunately she went in a little too strong due to her excitement and the ball went up and over the net. The next two pictures hurt my heart every time I look at them. They show the pure agony that can come in sports.
The good thing is, although we didn't win, we didn't lose either. Tied 0-0.
Thursday we were back up at Harford Tech for Xander's football game. Lookin' tough while waiting to get on the bus.
Another beautiful night for some football!
Apparently there had been some trash talking on social media between the two teams so there was definitely some excitement in the air. Both teams were undefeated at this point and the tension was mounting throughout the game as both teams struggled to score. Xander only got in for a couple plays during the game which was a bummer. We were up 12-9 with about 12 seconds left in the game and Harford Tech had possession on their 15 yard line. Last play of the game they toss it to one of their guys but we have a defender coming right up for the tackle...and then he slipped. Their player ran right into the end zone for the score, handing us the 16-12 defeat. Our guys were so bummed and some of them acted quite ridiculous which thoroughly embarrassed us parents. But Coach Caleb told them to hold their heads high and gave them a great pep talk after the game.
Noah's turn on Saturday. They played at Perry Hall and Noah got to be a captain!
Another tough game for us though we are getting better each time we play.
Another loss for us and I had lost track of the other team's touchdowns but we scored a touchdown. Yay!!
