Mom/Daughter Road Trip

Savannah's soccer tournament at Disney was supposed to be during the week following Christmas. Our team registered, we did fundraising...and then found out that, due to blackout dates for recruiters, the tournament had been moved to over Thanksgiving. Ugh! We already had plans for the Clarks to come for the third year in a row and had to cancel with them which was a huge bummer. Then, when we told the boys that Disney was going to be our Christmas gift, they were not happy; they wanted gifts instead. So, it was decided that Savannah and I would take a mother/daughter trip down and, with airline tickets being extremely expensive at that time of the year, we turned it into a road trip!
We left when she got home from school on Monday and drove down to North Carolina to spend the night with my sweet friend Audra. We came up and over a bridge just as the sun was setting. It was beautiful!
We listened to music, hit several Burger Kings in search of one that could deliver their tasty strawberry shake, and finally made it to Audra's just after 9:00. We got to meet her kids and then, after she put them to bed, were able to spend several hours catching up. After a quick night of sleep, we were up early the next morning ready to hit the road. Audra made us a delicious breakfast and we got to know her kids a little better. They were hilarious and had Savannah and I laughing over their cute stories and comments about their little brother. I just adore this lady!
What a long drive! We took a few pictures along the way - South of the Border...and no, we didn't stop;
this is an obvious one;
Savannah refused to take a picture of the cotton growing in a field next to the highway and then she wasn't awake when we drove past the sign welcoming us to Florida but she did catch this picture of another gorgeous sunset as we pulled into Orlando.

We were one of the first ones to arrive in Orlando so we were pretty much loners Tuesday night. We grabbed some dinner, watched a movie, and then went to bed. We had an early start the next day and wanted to get some rest!
