Xander's Birthday Trip

For Xander's 12th birthday David was going to take him to Salt Lake City to attend the Priesthood Session; unfortunately things at work were so hectic that David couldn't take the time off. So, jump forward a year to Xander's 13th birthday and he finally got his trip to Utah! I made David promise that he would take lots of pictures for me and he certainly did a good job. I started receiving pictures of him and Xander riding the airport bus to the terminal, waiting in line to go through security,
on the plane,
and even sitting on a bench outside the airport, waiting for Grandpa to pick them up. David thinks he's so funny. In all seriousness, though, I enjoyed receiving pictures throughout the days they were gone, seeing all the fun things they were doing and knowing that Xander was enjoying his special birthday trip. Once they got to Utah, the first thing they did was have lunch at Cafe Rio. No surprise there.
Next up was Temple Square;
The Joseph Smith Memorial Building;
Such a gorgeous view of the temple.
The Church History Museum;
and the Conference Center.
Some amazing views of downtown from up top!
The state capitol.
They then took a drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to check out the beautiful mountains. It was the end of September and they already had snow!
Snowbird.
Day 2 - Friday they headed up to Olympic Park.
Xander absolutely LOVES amusement parks so as a special birthday treat they finished up their day at Lagoon.
Day 3 - Saturday: they ate dinner at Pei Wei...
and then took the train into the city to attend the Priesthood Session.
It's the main reason they came!

What a special treat to be able to attend all together!
Day 4 - Sunday they celebrated Xander's birthday!
Day 5 - Monday: doing a little homework while hangin' with Fritz.
Some last day fun!
And dinner at Tepanyaki!
Time to come home!

  1. So, what you're saying (writing, really) is that for Xander's Bar Mitzvah, he got to travel to the homeland! Haha, what a great gift for Xanderman. And that shot of the mountains (just above/before the picture with deer) is stunning! Just gorgeous.
